Sandfall 1
Canyon X: If Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon, then Canyon X seems to be one of the the least visited (at least of those slot canyons available to photographers.) Canyon X is located "upstream" of the famous Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons, and is is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Like the other slot canyons of the area, Canyon X was formed by the erosion of the Navajo Sandstone primarily during times of flash flooding where the rain is channeled into the canyons and the action of the sand and rocks in the wash erodes the slot/corridor giving it the smooth shapes. If you are looking to access Canyon X then would highly recommend contacting Overland Canyon Tours who have exclusive access to Canyon X and take one tour per day, with only 2-6 photographers per tour. In my opinion, this is the only way to really appreciate the beauty and serenity of these amazing formations. I went with 3 other photographers and our guide, Chris Eaton, who I can highly recommend. He has amazing photographs of the area, and has a collection of stunning lightning and storm images.
